Perineural Injection Therapy

Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT), also known as neural prolotherapy or perineural injection treatment, is a relatively new method for managing pain. It involves injecting a dextrose (sugar water) solution near nerves to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation. This approach is based on the understanding that many chronic pain conditions stem from inflammation and irritation of peripheral nerves.

During the procedure, a small needle is used to deliver the dextrose solution into the tissue surrounding a nerve. The aim is to “reset” the nerve and decrease its sensitivity to pain signals. This technique is commonly applied to treat nerve pain, neuropathy, and musculoskeletal pain.
